FSF Challenge - Celebration

Lillie McFerrin Writes
This week's writing challenge from
Five Sentence Fiction
Lillie McFerrin Writes ) is based upon the prompt:

 Celebration

A story to which many writers can relate.

Electronic Ecstasy

It was an e-mail reply from a publisher, but he wasn't sure he wanted to read it. He'd sent out so many submissions and they had all come back with the word "rejected" somewhere in the first sentence. After much consternation, Wilbur clicked on the icon. He didn't even check which of his writings it was in response to before his eyes locked onto the words, "Your story has been accepted."
There would be a celebration that night.

  1. Nice piece! And congratulations if true. But since this is fiction can I assume you get more of those "accepted" than "rejected" letters?

    1. Thanks! While I may get a few more accepted notices than rejections, it's not like I'm sending my work to major publishing houses. Maybe someday! And I always get accepted on Five Sentence Fiction! Well, at least, so far...

  2. The magic words:

    "Your story has been accepted."

They are the ambrosia of all writers!

You know how to reach us! :))

  3. The word 'accepted' has brought many joys to very few people. It's a good thing that Wilbur even clicked the icon due to his run of 'bad luck' as they say, but what a celebration to be had.

    1. It is amazing how having a piece accepted, even when it's for exposure only, can make your day, week, or month.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
